Fat dissolving injections

Aqualyx® Fat Dissolving Injections in Manchester

For many people, certain areas of stubborn fat remain difficult to shift despite a healthy lifestyle, exercise and balanced diet. Common problem areas include the lower abdomen, love handles, saddle bags, inner thighs, upper arms and the under-chin area (“double chin”). Aqualyx® fat dissolving injections offer a safe, non-surgical way to break down these resistant fat pockets and create a slimmer, more contoured appearance.

Aqualyx® is an injectable compound that contains deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring substance produced by the liver to help break down dietary fat. When introduced directly into unwanted fat beneath the skin, Aqualyx® dissolves the fat cell membrane in a process known as adipocytolysis. The body then triggers an inflammatory response, sending immune cells to clear away the dissolved fat. These by-products are then removed gradually through the lymphatic system and excreted naturally.

How Aqualyx® Works

Aqualyx® is administered through a series of injections directly into the fatty tissue. Because the fat layer contains no nerve endings, the procedure is generally very comfortable — and to further minimise discomfort, Dr James mixes the Aqualyx® solution with a small amount of local anaesthetic (lidocaine). The fat cells begin breaking down soon after treatment, although the body’s clearing response continues over the following days and up to two weeks. During this time, swelling, tightness or tenderness is expected and is a normal part of the process. Aqualyx® typically requires a course of treatments, spaced 4–6 weeks apart. Many clients see visible improvement after two sessions, although 3–5 treatments may be needed for larger or more stubborn areas. It’s important to understand that Aqualyx® is not a weight-loss treatment. It is designed to sculpt and contour small pockets of stubborn fat in individuals who are already maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

What to Expect From Treatment

You will notice improved hydration almost immediately, though the most visible results develop gradually and are usually seen around three months after completing your initial treatment plan. As this is a non-surgical procedure, downtime is minimal. Mild swelling, tenderness or small bumps are common for the first 24–48 hours and settle naturally.

Most clients find that others comment on how refreshed or bright they look, without being able to identify exactly what has changed — a sign of the subtle, natural-looking benefits Belotero® Revive is designed to achieve.

What to Expect After Treatment

Swelling at the injection site is common — and actually desirable — as it indicates the treatment is working. In areas such as the neck, swelling may be more noticeable and can last several days, occasionally up to two weeks. Bruising may occur but resolves naturally within days to weeks. In rare cases, small lumps or nodules may form within the treated area. These typically settle on their own within 6–8 weeks without intervention. Men receiving double chin treatment may experience slight patchy beard thinning for up to three months as the area heals.

How to Prepare for Aqualyx® Treatment

For best results, Aqualyx® should be used after other fat-reducing efforts such as diet and exercise have already been tried. During the week before treatment, it is advisable to avoid vitamin E supplements, fish oil and anti-inflammatory medication such as ibuprofen or naproxen (unless prescribed by your doctor). Men undergoing treatment to the chin or neck area should shave prior to the appointment so that the area can be treated safely and accurately.

Aftercare: What You Should Do Post-Treatment

Following your treatment, avoid extreme heat or cold for several days, as well as strenuous exercise, which can interfere with the natural inflammatory response needed for optimum results. Anti-inflammatory medication should also be avoided for around 1–2 weeks unless prescribed for a medical condition.

If Aqualyx® is performed on the body or limbs, wearing supportive compression garments such as Spanx can help reduce swelling and encourage smooth healing. You should also avoid other fat-reduction or skin-tightening treatments — such as radiofrequency, HIFU or cryolipolysis — for at least 4–6 weeks after your final session.
